Muhyiddin Yassin was born as Mahiaddin bin Md. Yasin on May 15, 1947, in Muar, Johor, Malaysia. His father, Muhammad Yassin, was an Islamic scholar of Bugis descent, and his mother, Hajjah Khadijah, was of Javanese heritage.
