During the 2023 elections, Natasha Akpoti initially lost by 369 votes to Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, on September 6, 2023, the election tribunal declared her the rightful winner. The Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld this ruling on October 31, 2023, confirming her victory.
