Early Life and Background
Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix was born on September 11, 2004, in London, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of Fred Sirieix, a French hotelier, and Alex Spendolini, who has Italian heritage. Andrea was discovered by Crystal Palace Diving Club while attending John Stainer Community Primary School in Brockley. She later completed her secondary and sixth form education at Harris Academy Bermondsey.
Career Beginnings
Andrea began her competitive diving career at a young age. In 2018, she and her teammate Josie Zillig won the women’s 10m synchronized diving event at the British Diving Championships. The following year, she won gold in the Women's synchronized diving competition at the Junior European Championships in Kazan, partnering with Emily Martin.
Rise to Prominence
In 2020, Andrea achieved significant milestones. She won a solo gold medal in the Women's 10m Platform competition at the British Diving Championships and subsequently claimed her first international gold medal at the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Rostock. She secured victory with a final dive score of 76.80, earning a total of 330.50 points, narrowly beating Celina Toth.
Andrea exceptional performance earned her a spot on the Team GB diving team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. At just 16 years old, she reached the final of the Women’s 10m Platform event, finishing seventh. Her achievements led to her being named BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2020, and she was shortlisted again in 2022.

Andrea breakthrough year came in 2022. She won gold in the Women’s individual 10-meter platform at the Commonwealth Games, becoming the first English woman to win this event since 1966. Shortly after, she won gold at the European Championships in the same event and also achieved gold in both synchronized diving events: the women’s event with Lois Toulson and the mixed 10-meter synchro event with Noah Williams.
In May 2021, she and Noah Williams earned a silver medal in the 10m mixed synchro event at the European Aquatics Championships, and Andrea also won bronze in the individual 10m platform event.
Recent Successes
In 2023, Andrea won her second 10m platform title at the British Diving Championships. At the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, she and Lois Toulson won a silver medal in the Women’s 10m synchro event. The following year, they won bronze in the Women’s 10m Synchro at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
