Body:

Salute the professor. Make sure to write the name well.

E.g. “Hello Dr Frank Lukman.”

Then hit your MAIN REASON for writing the email. Then, introduce yourself. Spotlight your unique selling points and why you are the best guy for the job.

E.g. “I am Ifeanyi Eze, and am writing to express my interest in carrying out my master’s program in your lab at the University of Cincinnati, commencing Fall 2025.”

Remember, assistantships are like jobs. You need to sell yourself fast and straight.

E.g. “I work as a medical lab technician at Ikeja Hospitals and have experiences in spectrometry…”

Tell the professor what you wanna do in your studeies and why it matters.

Then, show that you know what the professor is doing in his lab. If you wanna join, you should know what you’re going into, at least. So, familirize yourself with the Professor’s research.

Then, attach your CV and transcripts.
