How To Get Scholarship At Master or PhD Level To Study In The USA

The USA is the most competitive study destination in the world. There are more international students in the US than any other country in the world.

To get scholarship at Master or PhD level… you need to do these:

1) Research: Everything is online. From A to Z. Type your course (e.g. Master in Biology) and schools that offer the course and its variants will appear. Start going through the websites. Check their admission requirements. Go through their research focus.

2) Connect: Usually, schools fund people that are going for RESEARCH. So, go for thesis based program and not course-based. Connect with professors who are conducting research in your area of interest. This is often through emails, Twitter, LinkedIn, or referrals. Professors emails are available on the university’s website. Send them emails.

3) Compete: The available scholarship is often less than the number of students that want it. So, in some cases, 40 students may apply and 8 gets chosen. You need to put forward a strong application. Sound SOP, CV, strong GPA, and well documented academic achievements. This is an international competition, not local league. Get someone to coach you if possible.

4) Various Options: There are over 3 thousand universities in the USA. So, make sure you spread your nets wide. Do not get fixed in one school or a professor. Get as much as possible, so you can choose. Prioritize your progress.

The process is a bit complex and requires commitment. You can’t outsource it entirely. You need to be involved. Actively work towards it. I try my best to give my mentees the right info and guide them throughout the process.
