2024 LISD CTE (Career and Technology) Classes And Program Administered Certifications

I wanted to put a note on here about LISD's CTE program (Career and Technology). Many may not know about all the programs offered at LISD.

Some of them are:

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Premiere

CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant, CPR, EXCEL, OSHA, Pharmacy Tech, Powerpoint, Serve Safe and Word).

These are classes and programs where certifications are administered. Many students graduate with these certifications ready to go to work. Students are able to use these certifications in some cases, to get higher paying jobs like a Pharmacy Tech, while attending college to further their education.

TJC dual credit classes are also offered in Career and Technology Fields. These are in addition to the dual credit, core curriculum classes offered like English, Government and History.

The dual credit Career and Technology Classes are:

Health Science-Medical Terminology

Engineering-Basic Computer Aided Drafting

Architecture-Architecture Drafting-Residential

Business – Marketing and Entrepreneurship

Automotive Technology and Welding Technology.

Did I mention that Lindale ISD also provides these Career and Technology, dual credit classes at no charge to the students?

That’s right, if your child is in these classes they can get college credits at no charge to them or their parents. If you are in Automotive Technology, your student goes 4 days per week to the RTDC building on the West Loop in Tyler. They can walk the stage at Lindale graduation and also graduate TJC at the same time.
The above list includes only the CTE classes that are dual credit and does not include the other CTE classes that are not dual credit.

We currently have 200 students enrolled in Construction and Welding. A new certification LISD is now offering is NCCER. This certification demonstrates the student has Basic Safety, Introduction to Construction Math and an introduction to the following: Hand Tools, Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Basic Riggings, Basic Communication Skills, Basic Employability Skills, and Introduction to Material Handling.

NCCER stands for The National Center for Construction Education and Research.
These are a few of the great things happening at LISD.
