If you want to become a US-trained pilot, you can join a flight school. You need an M1-Visa to enroll in a flight program in the USA.
Here are the steps to take:
1) Research: Look for flight schools that meet your requirements in terms of location, cost, reputation, and program offerings. Ensure the school you selected is approved by the SEVP under the Homeland Security. There are many schools out there.
2) Admission: Apply to the flight school of your choice. Most schools have online application processes where you'll need to submit your academic transcripts, English proficiency test scores (like TOEFL or IELTS), and any other required documents. They accept WAEC.
3) Financing: Determine how you will finance your flight training and living expenses in the USA. Secure your proof of funds and show evidence of financial capability. This may include personal savings, scholarships, loans, or sponsorship. Flight school is NOT for poor masses shaa.
4) Visa: Apply for M1 visa (vocational training). It is just like the F1 visa (academic study). You need to pay for SEVIS fee and fill out your DS-160. Attend visa interview.
5) Licensing: After completing your flight training, you'll need to pass written exams and practical flight tests administered by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to obtain your pilot's license. The school will guide you on what to do.
In all, once you have the money… then start researching the process. It is not difficult.
