Simple And Easy Way To Read and Study For JAMB or WASSCE Examinations.

Whether you are now in your final year of your senior secondary school, or just preparing for the next level in tertiary institution (I mean entry in University), here are some study advise and suggestions on how to read, study and how to organise your time sensibly.

1. Learning about learning

You must remember that the responsibility is yours. It is important to be self-reliant and to make your own decisions. It is up to you to decide when and how to study, and to plan your own timetable. Learning is an active process. Learning means understanding, not just remembering. You must think about what you are learning and not simply copy notes and try to memorize them.  Adding past questions to your studying is another great way to proper understand.

2. When to study

Immediately you have a free-time. I do love reading during my Me-time. You see, just think about your schedules. When will you be free. You could just read your textbooks and other reference books.ake notes, do some past questions. Then revise again. It is good to have an idea of when you will perform these tasks. This means that you must organise your time properly. Make a plan on a sheet of paper showing the days of the week and the work for each day. At the end of the week, you can eventually have gotten how your reading and studying time should be. If necessary, change either your schedules or behavior!

3. How to study

Decide whether you work best:

  •  before or after eating

  •  in the morning, in the afternoon, or in the evening

  • for hours on end, or for shorter periods.

There is evidence to suggest that studying alone is best done in periods of about half an hour. After this, attention begins to wander - possible because the brain begins to tire.

If you have set aside a period of two hours for studying, divide the time into four sessions, with a short break after each one. The brain thrives on oxygen, so some physical activity will pump more oxygen into the brain, allowing what you have been studying to be absorbed more easily.

TAKE HOME POINT

For each study session, set yourself one or more defined targets. For example:

  •  Make notes on subjects your have choose for that session.

  •  Solve a problem

  • Write essays

  •  Revise your notes for a test. Past questions can easily help you with this.
