How To Read And Answer Comprehension and Summary Much Better For English Language Examinations.

1. Search for special piece of information based on the questions asked, e.g. consider this following comprehension writing:

"It is 350 kilometres from Yaoundé to Bertoua, along a row that runs east, toward the central Africa Republic and Chad. Along the way, as is usual in Africa, we encounter police guardposts. The driver stops the car, leans his head out of the window, and says: Evêché Bertoua!' (the bishopric of Bertuoa!)

Question:

  1. What makes the young missionary lean out of his car and say 'Evêché Bertoua!'?

2. Survey the text to get an overview, perhaps to decide whether the text deserves closer study.

3. Study the text and understanding the contents in detail, perhaps to make notes for an essay.

4. Skim through the all text to get the gist of it, perhaps maybe you have just a limited time to answer the whole examination questions and time is short.
